The Escondido East Rotary Club was very busy this holiday season. The club first stocked stockings for the kids at Escondido Community Child Development Center, a nonprofit pre-school for single parents or a family on a low income. Then the following week they had their very own Santa, Walt Cichocki and club members meet the kids at the school and Santa and elf (our club President Shelby King) pass out the gifts to the kids.
Then the club adopted three families in need this Christmas. One family's daughter is in the hospital with leukemia; she is doing better; along with gifts she is being showered with prayers for her. The other two families were very surprised as Santa Walt delivered gifts to them at their home. The club also rang the bell for the Salvation Army's kettle in front of Major Market Grocery store, bringing in around $860 from passing by customers.
