The Rotary Club of El Cajon Sunset recognizes that Thanksgiving Day is very special for many families in the community. However, for underserved areas of San Diego many families still struggle to put a decent meal on the table. This year the Rotary Club of El Cajon Sunset provided Thanksgiving food baskets to 10 families (feeding 68 people) in City Heights on November 28 - 29, 2021. Many of these families are recent immigrants who are beginning their lives in the United Sates with limited resources. The club also helped recent Burmese immigrant families enjoy a BBQ at Miramar Lake Park on Thanksgiving Day. Many families who do not eat turkey received $50 gift cards to area grocery stores to purchase meat of their choice.
