In accordance with the Rotary International Bylaws, District 5340 will soon begin the process of selecting our representative and alternate to serve for the 2028 Council on Legislation and the 2026 and 2027 Councils on Resolutions.
Qualifications
Each club in the district is invited to nominate one qualified Rotarian to serve as our district’s representative. All nominations must comply with the eligibility requirements stated in Article 9 of the RI Bylaws, including that the candidate:
- Is a member in good standing of a Rotary club in District 5340.
- Has completed a full term as a Rotary International officer (normally as district governor).
- Has provided their clubs with an independently reviewed statement of district finances during their term as governor.
- Is willing, able, and qualified to perform the duties and attend the required training and meetings, including the week-long 2028 Council on Legislation.
Timeline
- Deadline for club nominations: 15 December 2025
- Selection committee meeting: Before 31 December 2025
- The selected representative’s term will begin 1 January 2026 and run through 30 June 2028.
How to Submit a Nomination
Each club may nominate any qualified Rotarian (even from another club, provided that Rotarian’s home club gives written consent).

If only one eligible and willing candidate is nominated, that person will be declared elected. Otherwise, the District 5340 Council on Legislation Nominating Committee will meet to consider all nominations and select the representative and alternate.
