The holiday season is here and this month our Rotary theme is: Disease Prevention and Treatment.  This is one of our Areas of Focus and perhaps the theme that Rotary is best known for, at least among non-Rotarians.  I encourage you to share this with your community.

We have had an amazing year "Connecting the World" these past five months.  I have had the pleasure of visiting all but three clubs.  I have learned so much during my visits about your boards, members, projects and your vision for the coming year.  I am so proud of all of you as I experienced Rotary in so many different ways, like the pot of Chicken Soup I spoke about with all your unique ingredients that make your clubs so special.  I enjoyed and had fun visiting your different club fundraising projects and activities.  Thank you for including me as your District Governor.

We have had great District activities so far that I would like to mention and congratulate you for participating in:

  • Membership Seminar at USD where we learned how to "grow Rotary" and share ideas amongst each other.
  • RLI, Rotary Leadership Institute for 2020-21 Presidents Elect at the Del Mar Hilton.
  • Interact Symposium at Liberty Station with over 100 District Interactors attending and electing their leaders for the coming year.
  • Foundation Seminar at UCSD where we learned about the different projects you are participating in and the many ways to support our Rotary Foundation.
  • We also honored the lives of Past District Governors: Bob Tomka, Jack Mayo, Larry Scott, Dave Breeding and Wayne Cusick.  We celebrated their memories as a piece of them lives on inside all of us.  They played important roles in our Rotary lives and helped make us who were are today as Rotarians.
I wish you the best this holiday season.  It is a great time to appreciate family and friends you get to connect with and the communities you get to serve as "Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary and Changing Lives".  Because of all that you have done, I get to experience gratitude and pride every single day.

I look forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead of us these next six months and to create new memories with those we care about the most.

Let's do this.  "Making Good Happen Together with Love Compassion and Joy."

Feliz Navidad, y Prosero Año Nuevo,

Saludos,
