Santee-Lakeside Rotary club members and kids and Santee Food Bank volunteers assisted local postal workers with the Post Office's annual Stomp Out Hunger Food Drive.  This is an annual county-wide effort with donated items typically going to the San Diego Food Bank.  For years, the Santee-Lakeside Rotary club has worked with both the post office and the Santee Food Bank to ensure items collected in Santee go to the Santee-Food Bank where Santee residents can be served.

On May 15, Rotarians unloaded postal trucks and reloaded 4,718 pounds of food onto another truck.  The effort was supported by local businessman Kyle Whissel and Whissel Realty Group who donated a large delivery truck to help get the food items from the post office to the Santee Food Bank.  Once there, the Santee Food Bank volunteers sorted the donations to be distributed at a later date.  The Santee-Lakeside Rotary club also assists the food bank with monthly deliveries to shut ins living in the local mobile home parks.
