Ron Feuchs, is a project coach working with a high school student in New York, Madeline Abrams. Ron relays that Madeline has created a unique way to use discarded water bottles to create an irrigation system for growing vegetables.   By using empty water bottles, cutting them in half lengthwise, duct taping them with waterproof tape, Madeline has created a gutter system to capture the rainfall that comes off of a roof. She then uses water bottles to create a downspout to direct the water to a holding tank similar to a rain barrel.    Madeline recently presented on Zoom to Rotary Clubs in Zone 22 in Africa with 25 members in attendance. Madeline will be presenting her water harvesting innovation again on Zoom on February 17. Ron is inviting Rotarians in District 5340 to view her presentation on Saturday, Feb 17, 2024, at10:00 AM Pacific Time.

Madeline has also created a website where she shares her photos and videos showing how she built her rainwater harvesting system. Here is the link: harvesteverydrop.com. Madeline’s goal is to spread her innovation as far and wide as possible to benefit communities and to help people harvest rainwater for growing vegetables and crops.
