District 5340 is proud to announce that Robin Chappelow of the Rotary Club of Rancho Santa Fe has been selected as a recipient of Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award, the highest and most distinguished honor Rotary bestows on an individual Rotarian.
To understand how unique this is, consider the scale of Rotary. Our Rotary and Rotaract family include approximately 1.4 million members worldwide, organized across more than 500 districts. Yet each year, only 150 people receive this award. It is reserved for those whose humanitarian service is not occasional, but exceptional, sustained, and deeply transformative.
The selection process reflects that level of significance. Rotary International Director &District Governors may nominate one individual, either one Rotarian or one Rotaractor, helping ensure this honor remains a true recognition of impact and service at the highest level. The Service Above Self Award embodies Rotary’s core motto because it honors leaders who consistently put people first and turn compassion into action.
A Rotarian for over 27 years, Robin has lived that promise through devoted service in our local community and beyond. Her leadership, humility, and heart have changed lives, strengthened hope, and inspired others to serve with purpose.
