On May 19th, Escondido Rotary After Five had their first official in person meeting at Fusion Restaurant in Escondido since the pandemic closed the club's live meetings. Club members received their COVID-19 vaccinations and Club Service Director, Carol Szytel, was able to organize a meeting room that complied with COVID protocols.

A delicious lasagna dinner was served and club members were joined by  special guests District Governor, Steve Weitzen and Assistant Governor, Bret Geernaert present to induct eight new Paul Harris Fellows (PHF). International Service Director, Kela Sconce, worked tirelessly to help the last eight members obtain their PHF and with these inductions, After Five has a 100% Paul Harris Fellow membership!

The evening was a great celebration of Rotarians that continue to help the club's community with service and treasure despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic. Everyone had a great time catching up and being able to share some fellowship outside a video screen. They were honored to share this great milestone with Governor Steve Weitzen, AG Bret Geernaert, and Rancho Bernardo Rotarian Gayla Williams and Golden Triangle Rotarian Bev Fritschner. Club Secretary, Gary Szytel, who just celebrated his 39th Rotaversary opened the meeting with a beautiful song.

A video of the song and Governor Steve’s address to the club can be seen on the After Five webpage Home Page and Facebook page.
