On February 25, 2023, members from La Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club, Rotary E-Club of San Diego Global, and Destiny Hands International convened at Elly Dotseth's home to fill colorful backpacks with multiple personal hygiene items. There were 50 backpacks in total and will be donated to Just in Time for Foster Youth, to be given to young adults aging out of the foster care system. It was a very cold and rainy day, but they all still had a great time!
The following Friday, Jo Ann Berquist, Elly Dotseth and Benjamin Kettor convened at Elly's garage, loaded the backpacks in our cars, and drove to Just in Time for Foster Youth to deliver the backpacks. They were joined there by Tori Rice and Camille Chenoweth-Moyer. The group was provided a tour of the amazing facilities, followed by delivery of the items to the organization's warehouse.
The La Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation donated $3,000 to towards purchasing the supplies needed for the backpacks and Destiny Hands International purchased the backpacks and helped put them together.
This is a great collaborative effort by multiple organizations.
