Today is International Day of Friendship and was designated by the United Nations General Assembly. On July 30, we step back and get thankful for these relationships worldwide, as they promote and encourage peace, happiness, and unity.  This is what happens in Rotary.  I am happy to say that the members of my club are my friends. According to a Mayo Clinic article, friendships can have a major impact on your health and well-being, but it's not always easy to develop or maintain friendships. Let's Create Hope in the World by understanding the importance of social connections in your life and what you can do to develop and nurture lasting friendships.

One of the ways the district promotes friendships is through its Rotary Night at the Padres.  This past Tuesday, July 25, the Padres played against the Pittsburgh Pirates and won 5 to 1. All 52 of us in attendance had a great time in fellowship with one another. The next Rotary Night at the Padres is August 22 against the Miami Marlins and is sold out.

In support of today's International Day of Friendship on you might consider learning about Rotary's Friendship Exchange.  Rotary Friendship Exchanges allow participants to experience new cultures, expand their global understanding, and immerse themselves in service opportunities, all while building lifelong friendships.
