In accordance with the provisions of Rotary International Bylaws Article 13, Rotary District 5340 created a Selection Committee to review and interview candidates for the role of District Governor during Rotary Year 2020-2021. This year's Selection Committee included nine past, current, and future District Governors. and was chaired by Immediate Past District Governor Marilyn Sanderson.
 
The Selection Committee is pleased to officially announce that Marta Knight from the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Sunrise will serve as District Governor Designate (DGD) and to subsequently serve as Governor of District 5340 during the Rotary year 2020-2021.
 
"We were truly impressed with all of the individuals who threw their name into the hat for consideration," said Scott Carr, District Governor. Each of the candidates interviewed by the Selection Committee were recommended by their respective Rotary clubs to serve as Governor. "The Selection Committee had some very difficult decisions to make, given the high caliber of candidates we had to consider," Carr added. "I'd like to extend my congratulations to Marta for her selection, and my heartfelt appreciation to each and every one of the candidates who went through the process. I would also like to thank the Selection Committee and Chair Marilyn Sanderson for their hard work."
 
Challenges (per Rotary International Bylaws, Article 14.020.8) to the selection of District Governor were to be received by District Governor Scott Carr, in writing, by close of business on December 14, 2017. No challenges were received.
