Nine members of the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club as well as four other Rotarians, two each from the Encinitas Rotary Club and the Del Mar Rotary Club made a trip on August 16, 2018 to the Tijuana Kumiai Rotary Club to view current and future projects that the Tijuana Kumiai Rotary Club and its District 4100 identified as needed.  In addition to prioritizing projects, Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club and the Tijuana Kumiai Rotary Club decided to become Twin Clubs, establishing a partnership to further international understanding and to foster goodwill through long-standing fellowship and international service.

On Thursday, September 13, 2018, Francisco Javier Carrillo Mejia, President of the Tijuana Kumiai Rotary Club and several members of his club were guests of the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club's dinner meeting.  Also present was Mel Gallegos, 5340 District Governor.  In addition to signing the Twin Club Certificate of Recognition, they presented each other with banners of the respective clubs.  It is hoped this will be the beginning of many collaborative projects.
