In accordance with the provisions of Rotary International Bylaws Article 13, Rotary District 5340 created a Nominating Committee to review and interview candidates for the role of District Governor during Rotary Year 2020-2021. This year's Committee included seven past, current, and future District Governors. and was chaired by Immediate Past District Governor Scott Carr.
The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce that Steven Weitzen from the Rotary Club of Del Mar-Solana Beach has been selected to serve as District Governor Nominee (DGN). Weitzen's term as Governor of District 5340 would take place during the Rotary year 2020-2021.
Weitzen is a solo practitioner in civil litigation who has owned his own practice since 1990. He served as President of the Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary in 2013-14, as well as Assistant Governor from 2015-18. Currently he serves as Chief Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5340.
Any challenges (per Rotary International Bylaws, Article 14.020.8) to the selection of District Governor are to be received by District Governor Mel Gallegos, in writing, by close of business on August 6, 2018. Challenges may be sent to 2247 San Diego Avenue, Ste. 236, San Diego, CA 92110 or via email to district@rotary5340.org. If no challenges are received, the selection of the Nominating Committee becomes official.
