May is Drowning Awareness Month and a good time to find out about a great local organization teaching water safety to underprivileged children in our community. Speaker Sonja Nystuen would like to come and speak at your club about her organization called Out of the Board Swim (OTB). This organization builds confidence in kids by building confidence in the water through water safety programs. There are many opportunities for Rotarians with different skills and availability to partner with OTB. Volunteers help lead and assist with surfing lessons, water safety and environmental awareness workshops, organize beach clean ups and take photographs. The kids also love volunteers who simply want to supervise them and play at the beach. if you love the water and would like to volunteer to make your community better, this is an organization that you will want to know about.
