A recent Saturday's work effort saw the culmination of six months planning by Seven Oaks Community Center and the Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club.  Twenty-five Rotarians and family members spent six hours unloading residents' cars as well as traveling to their homes to pick up furniture, bedding, patio furniture and other older and no longer used items clogging garages and closets.

Three 40-foot roll off dumpsters, provided free of charge by EDCO Waste Disposal, were filled to capacity.  Councilman Mark Kersey's office provided free "dump tickets" for use at the Miramar Landfill.  As a result, no cost was incurred by Seven Oaks residents.  Reusable furniture, accessories, and fixtures were given to local charities.

Seven Oaks Community, comprised of 1,249 single-family homes and 410 condos, is a 55+ community developed in the 1960s during the initial development of Rancho Bernardo.

Given residents' enthusiasm and appreciation, Seven Oaks Clean Up Day is likely to become an annual event.

The Rancho Bernardo Rotary Club was founded in 1964 and has a long history of commitment to  community service.
