Past Rotary International President Wilf Wilkinson Coming to District Conference
District 5340 is very excited to announce that Past Rotary International President Wilf Wilkinson will be appearing at the 2014 District Conference in Palm Springs.
PRIP Wilkinson, a native of Trenton, Ontario, Canada, was RI President in 2007-2008, and will be serving as the special representative for current RI President Gary C.K. Huang.
"We are incredibly honored to have PRIP Wilkinson join us at this year's District Conference," said Louise Andres, District Governor of Rotary District 5340. "In addition to being a terrific speaker, Wilf is passionate about helping others, about the Polio Plus campaign, and about the power of Rotary both locally and around the globe. His global theme of ROTARY SHARES helped define and motivate 1.2 million Rotarians during his presidential year, and he will be a fantastic addition to our special event."
In addition to hearing from PRIP Wilf Wilkinson, attendees at this year's District Conference will:
- Enjoy food and drink from 15 hospitality suites, hosted by clubs in District 5340.
- Learn about the Peanut Butter Project, an innovative approach to lifting an entire village out of hunger and poverty.
- Listen to young people from San Diego, with no hope of a better life, and find out what changed their lives around.
- Hear from John T. Capps, an inspiring Past District Governor from North Carolina, humorist, and founder of BHMA (Bald Headed Men of America)
- Dance the night away at the Foundation Gala, black tie optional, or in the national dress of another country.
- Learn to assemble artificial hands, that Rotarians can then give to those who need them at no cost to the donor or the recipient.
