Multiple clubs in San Diego have partnered with Hands of Peace to "advance world understanding, goodwill and peace".  From July 10-28, 30 teen participants from Israel and Palestine will join with 10 American teens in an intensive dialogue and leadership training program in San Diego.  Though they arrive in San Diego as 'enemies', their time here bonds them in remarkable friendship.  Participants in the past have continued to connect long after the summer program is over.  Many go on to become leaders, diplomats, and form NGOs.  Clubs throughout  San Diego have assisted Hands of Peace with meals, district grants and have hosted the visiting participants in past years.   Gretchen Grad, the founder of Hands of Peace has been named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International.

On Sunday, July 28 from 4:30-8:00 p.m., Hands of Peace will host a Farewell Celebration.  These young participants will give moving speeches about their experience in San Diego, discuss the fears and hopes in their return to reality at home, the remarkable shift in their world view and the new inspiration they have to unite for change.  All Rotarians are welcome to attend.  Click here to register.  Adult tickets are $35.  Peace Chairs, International Chairs and Presidents are invited to attend as our guest.  Please contact Jenny Parker for any further question at jenny@jparkermd.net.
