The 5th Annual Peace Forum, co-hosted by Rotary District 5340, Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies and District 5340 Pathways to Peace, will convene on Saturday, February 27 at the Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice at the University of San Diego. Registration, a continental breakfast and fellowship begin at 8 am and the program begins at 8:30 am, ending at 12 noon. Parking will be adjacent to and hear the Kroc Institute on USD's campus. This forum is free to all registrants.
 
Each year the Peace Forum highlights the role of education in creating and advancing peace. In the Forum, partners D5340 and USD each share their work with the other, highlighting new developments and best practices useful to participants in their practices of peacemaking and peacebuilding.
 

 
 
This year's Peace Forum presentations include:
 
Derek Abbey, Former Marine pilot and Coordinator of USD Veteran Student Services describes the challenges that returning veterans must successfully navigate, especially in higher education. For those Rotarians working in community service with veterans, this session offers unique insight.
 
Aadila Sabat, The Development House; 2008 D5340 Rotary Scholar will offer keen insight into the impact of an academic degree in Peace & Justice Studies upon her personally, and on her work over the past eight years.
 
Defying Extremism  - KSPS faculty will share information from the field.
 
Eden Steele, Founder and Executive Director, Interactions for Peace details the truly inspirational span of work with young people, especially recent Global Grant-funded work in Kenya.
