This past weekend, the District Membership Rally brought Rotarians from corners of the District to the University of San Diego to share tips and ideas on membership.

More than 70 attendees were welcomed by the "new sheriff in town," District Governor Scott Carr (San Diego Downtown), as well as District Membership Leaders Dianne Crawford (Southeast San Diego) and Dawn Van Siclen (Carlsbad Hi-Noon). The rally also featured the help of facilitators who helped lead group discussions, while sharing best practices on member engagement.

The rally was open to all Rotary members, including Club Presidents, Membership Chairs, and Committee Members. "This truly was a great way for clubs to kick off the new Rotary year," added Carr, who mistakenly thought wearing all-black in the middle of July was a terrific idea. "Rotary is not just an organization, but a movement. The more innovative we can be in the way we communicate Rotary's message, and its reason for being, the more likely we are to attract new members."

Thank you to Ms. Crawford and Ms. Van SIclen for their work in creating an engaging program, and special thanks to facilitators Suzanne Manual, Ivan Dunn, Past District Governor Marilyn Sanderson, Mary Griffin, Larry Potter, Jeff Thiel, Assistant Governor Marta Knight, Niko Sougias, Jim Merrill, Matilda Rough, and Bob James, Jr.
