Entering its 14th year in 2018, the annual International Youth Symphony is a partnership program between SDYS and Rotary District 5340 International Youth Exchange that brings musicians from across the globe together with SDYS’ most advanced musicians for a two-week intensive music experience. Seventeen musicians representing ten countries assemble to play alongside top San Diego Youth Symphony musicians, to make memories, build bonds and cultural understanding through music.

They will be preforming on Tuesday, July 24, 6:30pm, at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, and there is no charge for admission.
The International Youth Symphony (IYS) program is sponsored by several San Diego County Rotary Clubs: San Diego Downtown, the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, Coronado, Escondido, La Jolla Golden Triangle, Old Mission (San Diego), Escondido, Rancho Santa Fe and District 5340. We thank them all for their support. This year these exceptional musicians, who successfully auditioned were accepted into the program, hail from Canada, Croatia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Taiwan, Romania, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with this being the first year that students from Croatia are participating.

Rotary District 5340 also thanks the San Diego Youth Symphony for all they have contributed to making this program a success.
IYS is the only program of its kind in Rotary, providing all students with the opportunity to perform classical repertoire at the highest level while engaging in life-changing social and cultural experiences in music and the community. They arrived on July 13 and will be returning to their home countries on August 5.
