Our mission team CaboSmiles in partnership with Rotary Clubs of Los Cabos,  Rotary Club of Carlsbad,  the San Diego International Global Rotary Club and the Smiles Advisory Panel (SAP) located here in Cabo San Lucas,  Baja California,  Mexico just completed a marvelous week of patient care for children challenged with cleft facial and orofacial differences.
66 patients were screened and given specialty evaluations and treatments from our experienced team consisting of Speech and Language, dental, ENT, developmental services, pediatric anesthesia, and CranioMaxilloFacial surgeons. This also resulted in assuring that 21 patients were able to undergo comprehensive facial cleft and speech augmentation surgery  including lip, palate, nasal, and facial bone reconstructions under pediatric anesthesia.
In order to make best use of our anesthesia availability, multiple simultaneous procedures were performed on many of the cases yielding a total of 60 surgical procedures being accomplished with an estimated calculated monetary value yield of just over $417,000.00 US at this single clinic week alone.
Patients that did not have surgery were not missing out: in addition to their other specialty treatment care, their staged procedures were all still updated and in line for their operations being done at their appropriate ages on future mission dates.
Many, many expressions of gratitude goes out to the support the Smiles International Foundation receives from this Cabo San Lucas community, from the SOLMAR FOUNDATION  housing our teams at their resort hotels, the numerous restaurants like Subway, The Buzz Coffee House, Sheraton, and the members of SAP providing delicious meals during the week's clinic hours, and the loan of transporting vehicles for clinic as well add airport logistics by both Rotary and The SAP team members.
The HOSPITAL de ESPECIALIDADES with owners,  Drs. Avalos and Ibarra, deserve very special credit for allowing our full team to occupy their clinic and operating rooms this entire week as a continuing partnership of support between us for this community.
