On Friday evening at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, RB Sunrise Rotary celebrated a great year for the club.  Since our president, Alison Farrin, is an avid horsewoman and endurance rider, the party had a western theme.  Members and guests wore western attire and the skit about Alison played off her participation in the Tevis Cup 100 mile endurance ride in northern California which she has completed twice placing in the top third of those who actually completed the event.  For more on this story click here.

The club added 9 new members and had a very successful fundraising event in Oct and then helped build 3 houses in Mexico.  In addition we had 2 Rotarians at work projects as made donations to charities in our community.  Our club was also instrumental in helping district club participate in matching grants at the district and international level.

In addition to honoring our outgoing president, our club also honored Jeanne MacLaren as our Rotarian of the Year.  Jeanne came to our club several years ago after being in a Rotary club in norther California where she was the president.  Jeanne has a passion for Rotary and the Rotary Foundation and was instrumental in getting our club to not only continue to be an EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) club, but she also encouraged our club to increase our donations to the Rotary Foundation so that our club has doubled its contributions when compared to the contributions just 2 years ago.  We were pleased to honor Jeanne.  She is not only active in our club, but has been involved in helping the district with several events during the last 2 years.
